AB - This paper reviews theme of generative convergence and its implications on the
relation between architecture and its production tools. Beside assimilation of digital
technologies, assigning of knowledge and appropriation of methods processes and
procedures of other disciplines also demarcate current architectural discourse.
Transfer of technologies, whereas technology does not infer just hardware but a
mode of system thinking, involves effort for their integration in a manner that should
correspond specific needs and conditions of architectural practice. The transposition
of creative tools influences re-thinking of design process in the course of the logic of
operation of applied tool enabling innovation and categorical transformations.
Focused on design of architectural structures an approach for performance-oriented
design generation will be presented. Concept of design process as a production
system enables application of different strategies, integration and convergence of
diverse production systems in a single meta-system. In order to operate in productive
way, these methods use CAD/CAM/CAE cross-platform and connect an object with
the set created by automated generative system, moving emphasis form a single
object to a system and its possibilities to produce variations. Goals of such
considerations are efficient use of resources and optimization of design process.

AB - The construction industry is a vital part of the growth and success of a country. It is
responsible for building the physical infrastructure that provides transportation and
facilities for citizens, businesses, industries and institutions. Construction has a major
influence on the economic wealth, societal well-being and sustainability of the built
environment. This paper presents the structural behaviour of new composite concrete
slab system with profiled steel sheeting and lightweight concrete fill. The system has
potentials to become well accepted by the construction industry due to the many
advantages over other types of floor systems. The slab is created by composite
interaction between the concrete and steel deck with reinforcement to improve their
bending resistant characteristics. Profiled steel deck performs two major functions
that act as a permanent formwork during the concrete casting and also as tensile
reinforcement after the concrete has hardened. The only additional nominal light
mesh reinforcement bars that needs to be provided is to take care of shrinkage and
temperature, usually in the form of welded wire fabric. Steel possesses a unique
material property unrivalled by other materials in that it can be recycled both up and
down the product value chain without degrading its structural strength and other
chemical properties. Open loop recycling allows an old structure to be melted down,
and then, when is recycled, it is re-melted to produce new appliances, structural
beams, cladding and decking. Presented research focuses also on economic
parameters of the topic, giving examples for some typical spans, in relationship with
transportation needs, technology aspects and estimated time.

AB - The paper reviews possibilities of application of structural performance-based methods for production of geometrically complex, non-conventional architectural forms. Starting from the fact that advanced digital technologies and multidisciplinary approach have significantly changed traditional relations in design process, this work indicates at potentials of application of methods, procedures and tools initially not designed for architectural production. Based on biological paradigm, morphogenetic strategies in the field of architecture represent dynamic operation-based form-finding methods. The focus of the paper will be on conceptualization of morphogenetic procedure for production of integrated morphologic solutions which are characterized by optimal form-structure interdependence. The procedure is based on isogeometric concept, which enables integration of CAD and FEA. Compared to the conventional FEA, in which geometric interpolation is carried, the isogeometry analysis is based on exactly defined initial geometry, thus enabling design, analysis and refinement of models by using a single data type, which considerably facilitates and accelerates the process of repeated analysis of variant forms. The objective of this paper is to confirm the thesis that transposition, advancement and integration of creative tools affect reconsideration of conventional approaches, methods and procedures, thus enabling innovation and optimization of the design process.
