AB - Throughout 2010 and 2011, a systematic nine month archaeological exploration was conducted on the north-eastern, northwestern and south-eastern parts of the villa with peristyle, as well as the area in front of the museum building (see note 8). The envisaged area of exploration was around 1,400 m². In total, 1,230 m² of this area was thoroughly examined (Fig. 1). The excavations were performed with the aim of defining the dimensions of the north-western and south-western parts of the villa, the appearance of the villa’s entrance, as well as to explore the foundations of the museum building. In the course of the excavations, certain differences were perceived in the stratigraphy of the villa with peristyle and the part excavated outside the villa.

AB - Taking into account the general suggestions and European standards in the field of education in conservation, at the Faculty of Architecture University of Belgrade in the recent years a series of students' projects has been carried out in order to investigate possibilities of protection, presentation and utilisation of historic sites. The idea was to broaden the students' knowledge and to educate them so that they could be able to solve complex issues while investigating, evaluating and renewing historic areas. This paper presents a one-semester work with students investigating renewal and modern utilisation potentials of the medieval Ottoman fortress Ram on the Danube bank (Serbia). The project empowered the students to be informed about: general methodology of the site condition valorisation; its character, significance and values; the destroyed buildings restoration and regeneration potentials; and 3D models implementation in assessing and comparing approaches to the protection and presentation. The historic and architectural analysis included several research stages of the origin and development of the fortress and data collection from various sources, archives and institutes. Conducting such research, the students were able to find out tangible and intangible characteristics and the basic architectural elements of the fortress and the surrounding buildings. Theory, investigation and education were complementary within the project, promoting an integrated approach in order to finding the most effective form of the historic site and its active inclusion in everyday life.

AB - This article discusses the results of geophysical surveys conducted at Mediana, near the town Nis (Serbia) in April 2010. The research was realized in cooperation with the Romano-Germanic Commission of the German Archaeological Institute, the Archaeological Institute and the University of Belgrade. Mediana geomagnetic prospecting sites, as a form of non-destructive methods of investigation, provided many new details about the architectural and archaeological remains, particularly in the eastern part of the site.

AB - In recent years, a series of students' projects have been carried out at the Faculty of Architecture of Belgrade with aims at protection and investigation of possibilities or presentation of archaeological sites dating from the Roman period, in which Serbia is very rich, and their active inclusion in modern way of life and tourist programs. The project for the revitalization of the Roman military camp Timacum Minus was one of them. It showed that the students' involvement in resolving complex issues of the presentation and revitalization of archaeological remains was fruitful because numerous fresh ideas were obtained in numerous subjects. The focus was on a concept that significant cultural and historic areas with ancient remains were to be presented to both the domestic and foreign public in a modern manner and in interaction with the environment, the natural beauties of the landscape. The projects enable to promote an interactive relation with the historic area as a place where visitors, at various activities, meet with history, but also with a reflection of a modern era. .
