Dve beogradske kuće arhitekte Dragiše Brašovana

Abstract

Specifically significant in the impressive opus of architect Dragiša Brašovan are works in the third decade of the twentieth century, since they reveal not only Brašovan's personal architectural poetics, but also the role and importance of architecture in the developmental cultural processes of the time. It is very important to perceive the role of architecture as the discourse of expression, construction and overcoming of the general identity crisis in the period of exceptional political instability. In that sense, the two Belgrade houses of Dragiša Brašovan are extremely indicative. The first, the building of the bank in Nušićeva Street, indicates the representation of a desirable social identity that includes European cultural models through the appropriation of the then well-known European architectural styles. On the other hand, the House of Aleksa Pavlović in Deligradska Street is an important evidence in the construction of personal identity within the turbulent social milieu of Belgrade of the time. By a series of architectural strategies, Brašovan created the image of exoticism and established a peculiar model of both personal exceptionalism and cultural cosmopolitanism. Bot examples, in fact, indicate the need to observe interwar architecture away from the dominant historiographic lines of interpretation and to position history of Serbian architecture as a part of the broader system of cultural studies.

U obimnom opusu arhitekte Dragiše Brašovana posebno su značajna dela koja su nastala tokom treće decenije HH veka, budući da se na njima može sagledati ne samo Brašovanova specifična arhitektonska poetika, već pre svega uloga i značaj arhitekture u procesima razvoja tadašnje kulture. Veoma je važno sagledati ulogu arhitekture kao diskursa ispoljavanja, konstrukcije i prevazilaženja opšte krize identiteta u vreme izrazite političke nestabilnosti. U tom smislu dve Brašovanove beogradske kuće jesu naročito simptomatične. Prva od njih — Palata Eskontne banke u Nušićevoj ulici — ukazuje na procese građenja predstave o poželjnom socijalnom identitetu, koji prihvata evropske modele identifikacije putem preuzimanja graditeljskih stilova evropskog Zapada. Istovremeno, arhitektonska struktura ove kuće ukazuje na karakter lokalnih, beogradskih prilika. S druge starne, kuća Alekse Pavlovića u Deligradskoj ulici jeste važan svedok načina konstruisanja personalnog identiteta u kulturalnom kontekstu Beograda dvadesetih godina XX veka. Korišćenjem niza arhitektonskih strategija Brašovan je kreirao sliku ličnog egzotizma vlasnika kuće i na taj način stvorio prepoznatljiv model socijalne identifikacije. Oba primera, zapravo, ukazuju na potrebu da se arhitektura međuratnog period posmatra izvan dominantnih istoriografskih linija tumačenja i da se istorija arhitekture postavi kao deo šireg sistema studija kulture
