Das Unheimliche. Психоаналитичке и културалне теорије простора
Abstract
The text „Das Unheimliche: Psychoanalytical and Cultural Theories of Space“ examines and analyses connotations of the term Das Unheimliche in the field of visual arts, rather the connotations of all the term implications regarded to visual arts’ space characteristics. Therefore, the first aim of this research was to detect historical derivation of this concept that has always been marginal, side-ward concept in psycho-analysis, and for many theorists and researchers valueless and minor to be occupied with.
Early research development comprehend the whole one hundred years history of this concept based on fact that it is constructed on equivalence of its denotation and connotation and that it exists due to the courtesy of its name Das Unheimliche (in German), fortunately for concept and its subsequential that Freud himself introduced, although he was not the first one. Even though different languages have their own translations, here it is used in the German original. The work is tryi...ng to illustrate a psycho-analyst history of this concept, and on the basis of it and of theories regarded to space, psycho-analysis and theoretical psycho-analysis, recommend the path of psycho-analyst reading of the concept in art works of the authors that are interfered in space issues. Chosen authors and their art works are offered as case studies making available to see the effect (appearance) of Das Unheimliche right in the eye of correlation of an psycho- analyst and Lacanly defined subject with space (space of art or art work). Case studies are not chosen simply by the artist and his work, but are based on the typology that is established so that the different relatives between Das Unheimliche and certain theoretical phenomena can be seen: the first is concerned with determined homonyms of special type: Das Heim and Das Unheimliche that are manifested through dissimilar interpretations of the motive of the house; the second is about the relationship between an aura and Das Unheimliche; the third is about political capacities that are conceded by this concept, and the last – fourth is about subversion and Das Unheimliche through historically distant examples.
